Bachelor of Science in Engineering
NNU’s Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering is an ABET-accredited, multidisciplinary degree dedicating two years to broad engineering fundamentals and two years to your concentration.
The electrical engineering concentration helps you learn to design, build and test electrical devices and systems—such as PCBs, microchips, robots, power generation and distribution systems, electric vehicles, etc.—as well as focus on the communications and signal processing of those systems. Within this concentration, you can choose an area of specialization in communication systems, digital signal processing, wireless devices, integrated circuits, electric power, automatic controls, electronics, and electromagnetics and radar.
For this degree, you will take courses in microelectronics, embedded systems, signals, electromagnetics and communication systems as well as complete a senior research project tailored toward this area of study. This coursework complements the ongoing department research projects, giving you opportunities to gain hands-on experience.
Besides access to cutting-edge research, you will have professors with years of industry experience to draw on in mentoring you and giving you hands-on training with fabrication and lab equipment. With a 15:1 student to faculty ratio, you get to know your professor and your professors really care about you, both in and out of the classroom. At the same time, you benefit from NNU’s broad liberal arts educational, spiritual and residential campus experience.
This program prepares you to directly enter the engineering workplace, take the professional engineering licensure exam and attend graduate school. Graduates from our program have a high FE exam pass rate, grad school placement rate and job placement rate. Columbia, Georgia Tech, Purdue, Alabama, Vanderbilt and Carnegie Mellon are some of the graduate schools our alumni have attended.
This concentration will prepare you for careers in fields like PCB’s and microchips, robots, power generation and distribution systems, electric cars and vehicles, cell phones, biomedical equipment, robots, WiFi networks, GPS and smart grid technologies.
The NNU Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE) program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
