Classroom Visits

Published on May 20, 2014.

A few team members of the NNU Robotics Vision visited Iowa Elementary in Nampa to show Mrs. Noble's 4th grade class what we are doing with out unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). We explained to the class how the "Parrot" quadcopter uses energy from the battery to turn the motors and spin the propellers and then in turn pull air from underneath to raise the quadcopter, enabling it to fly. We also explained to them how they "Parrot" takes photographs and with these photos we can determine if the orchard trees are healthy or if the farmer to add 'bread and sausage' to help the trees grow. In order to demonstrate what we talked about, we the Parrot fly around the gym and take a photo of the class. The children were delighted to see the video and photos of themselves taken with the UAV.
